DescriptionMy Education Journey
Nothing better than studying what you like. Ten years ago I arrived to the United States.
I have only one friend and we spent our childhood together. She does not like to study because
she has two children and she cared about her parent. Because she lived in San Diego about five
years before me, she gave me many advice, and I took her advice seriously. One of her advice is
to study Arabic because it is my mother language, and she told me. “ you can be an Arabic
teacher because there are many Arabic people here.” I did what she told me to do, but my mother
and my youngest sister did not agree with her, and they told me, “not everyone can be a teacher.
Teaching needs talent, and this job is the hardest job in the world.” As a result, I followed my
friend’s advice. Day after day, I feel bored because I am studying a major that I already know,
and I felt that this does not add to my knowledge anything. When I took Psychology last
semester, I liked it so much. I asked my mother who is in Master Psychology know, and my
sister who is in the third level of Pharmacy school if studying Psychology is hard. They told me,
“ there is never hard in life, and we can do whatever we want if we work hard.” My mother told
me, “ take me as an example, I took an associate degree in English Literature and Psychology,
and my Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics, but because I like Psychology, I am in Master
Psychology even though I am sixty, so do whatever you like because you will be perfect in it.”
Last semester, I took an A in psychology. After, I changed my mind, and I decided to study
Psychology.

Instructions: Please revise your Writing Project 1 Timed Writing using the following PIE
worksheet.
1. Revisit your Topic Sentence: Revise it to follow these guidelines.
P – Point – Communicate your purpose to the reader by writing a topic sentence that
addresses the issue with an opinion based on facts.
• A point is an opinion based on facts, not merely a fact.
• A point is a topic sentence for a body paragraph.
• A topic sentence has two functions:
a. It states the point of the individual paragraph.
b. It states how the point develops the thesis statement (for an essay).
Example – When faced with hardship, people can use the strength of others to make it
through a difficult period of time.
This is an opinion that is based on the fact that many people find help and comfort in
others when dealing with difficulty. This topic sentence has an opinion, yet it is based on
a fact.
Write your new revised topic sentence here:
2. Revisit your Information: Revise all pieces information to follow these guidelines.
Add Malcom X quote to your story as support and evidence.

• (1) Introduction statement, (2) quote, (3) MLA citation, (4) lines of analysis.
Example: Joyce Butler from Listening Is an Act of Love speaks of how her mother used
the support of her family to motivate her; she describes, “My mother wanted to keep us
